astroid layout and updating to higher templateversion

Last time i did an update on a joomla template and after that when i went to astroid i discovered the astroid layout was empty.
Question:
what do i have to do with astroid layout before you install the higher template version

Look in the template options unter preset.Go to Presets and save your settings. Then download the preset (locally). You can then always import and load this preset in the reverse way.   

see attachement. is this under the layout or under bootstrap where you have to save it

klick on load default

load default is not clickable. it does not have a default yet. do i have to click on the purple button to save the whole layout in which i am working and give it a name?

extra quetion: i see that on almoast every option which you choose at the left side you see you can load a default or select preset. do you have to this om every item or when you save a layout as fedault everything is in it allready?
