You are right. Ideally, the template would support mobile banners in a native fashion too; showing the banner not in the logo area but below. I believe I found a workaround - of anything non-mobile phone (Desktop and Tablet), removing uk-visible-large is good. For phone view, I will configure a module at Top-A position, and under Template configuration (Options/Modules) set it only to display for mobile. It's a workaround though because that way I can probably not use Joomla's native banner function.

I can live with this workaround, however banners to work under all views would be a feature request.
